Facts-Answers-Questions
Q. What kind of kinship is The Guardians?
A. At our foundation we are largely a social/casual kin, here to have fun together. We are ready to help new players learn the game and free players learn to earn LP, and to help each other out at any stage of the
game. Our interests are varied, and we try to facilitate a variety of events to reflect that. We have solo questers, raiders and PvMPers, RP from time to time, but mostly, we're here to hang out and have fun!
Q. Are we an end game kinship?
A. We have end game players, but we are not exclusively focused on the end game. As leader I will try to help everyone, those at end game as I can and new players as I can. If I only focus on end game, new players are not only left out, they are also left feeling like they can never be a part of something. I personally enjoy helping new players and free players learn the game.
Q. Are you an established kin?
A. Rank 10, kin house with all the perks, our own island, etc etc... oh and the best kinnies on the block!
Q. Are events mandatory?
A. No. I do encourage you to come participate in some of them according to your interests, but you will not be penalized for not doing so—except for missing out on potential fun. ;) I also do not encourage badgering people to join something they do not want to. This violates one of our core rules of respecting others.
Q. Do I have to be a Guardian (class) to join the Guardians?
A. Nope.
Q. Does our kin have a Discord?
A. Yes, although we prioritize kin chat and joining Discord is optional.
Q. Are Kin Notes in the social Panel required? Hitting the O key and clicking note in kinship tab?
A. No but they are strongly encouraged, especially for those with alts. It keeps my brain from exploding remembering numerous uniquely named alts each for over 150 people. :D It helps your kin mates with the same.
Q. How long can I be offline till I am removed from the kin?
A. 4 months, or 120 days without a note or notice given.
Q. What's considered to be Family Rated?
A. Don’t curse, swear, or use abbreviated language, and keep chat topics appropriate for all ages. Not everyone will be able to stay within these rules or be happy doing so, there are other kins out there with different rules, or you’re welcome to start your own and I wish you well with it. We provide a haven for those who want to play without cursing or being cursed at. Turns out, the people who like or put up with this kind of environment are pretty awesome people ;)
Q. Is our kin always recruiting?
A. No, but our door is nearly always open, and if a well standing member has a friend they would like to add they are encouraged to do so. We don't aim to be the largest kin in LOTRO, but we do aim to be the highest quality.
Q. Will the kin craft me armour? Weapons? Other things I need?
A. Yes, we are more than happy to help each other out with things kin mates need. However if you are always taking and give nothing back we will catch on. :) This violates another core rule of respecting others, even their own game time as it takes people's valuable time to gather resources. I do encourage everyone to gather materials that you need, or be willing to trade for it. Example I have ore, but I need a weapon, ore or other raw materials are a great trade to offer.
Q. How can I become an officer?
A. At the moment we are not looking for any more officers, however, show me officer quality character and helpfulness and you may find yourself with a Seneschal badge. Just enjoy your game, be yourself, and have fun.
Q. If I'm offline for awhile will I be demoted?
A. You may be, but all situations are different. Real life happens. Military personnel will be granted exceptions. Sometimes they are deployed longer than 1 year.
Q. How much experience does our leader have?
A. Tessandra has been leading and co-leading in MMOs for the better part of 16 years, and started LOTRO in the fall of 2019. Gellore has real life leadership experience, including being a Mom!
Q. Is it OK if I join other kins with my alts?
A. Yes. :)
Q. Can my alt join too?
A. Of course. :)
Q. What happens if our leader goes offline?
A. After a period of 60 days, in the event of something happening to the leader, their successor will be given the option to take over the kinship. I do suggest they do that. They have been added to all maintenance in all buildings so as long as that's paid all benefits remain including the kin house.
Q. I want to donate and help, but i'm too low level, is there anything I can do?
A. Yes :) Just actively say hi to people in kin chat. There's nothing better than chemistry and this is a big help alone. You don't have to be high level to help, focus on helping anyone lower or newer than you are.
Q. Is our leader crazy?
A. Absolutely :D
